Indonesian-Chinese Consortiums Appointed as Partners for Second Phase of Waste-to-Energy Projects

A number of Indonesian and Chinese company consortiums have been appointed as partners for the development and management of the second phase of Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) facilities covering eight agglomeration areas, according to a recent announcement by the Indonesia Investment Authority (BPI) Danantara on Monday (13/7).

“The involvement of leading global waste-to-energy (WtE) companies shows that Indonesia is increasingly trusted as an investment destination. We see this as an opportunity to accelerate technology transfer, build national capacity, and strengthen the waste management industrial ecosystem in Indonesia,” said PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) CEO Pandu Sjahrir in a statement.

Of the total eight PSEL projects announced in this second phase, at least six involve Chinese companies either as technology partners or consortium leaders.
