Beijing (ANTARA) - A delegation from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has arrived in China in an effort to increase the value of bilateral trade and investment between the two nations.

“Our first target here is how to help increase Indonesia-China trade. It was mentioned that Indonesia-China trade is 168 billion US dollars, but it is still below Malaysia and Vietnam. If it can be increased, that would be good,” said Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing on Sunday (21/6).

Anin, as Anindya is familiarly known, travelled to China to attend several events, including the China International Supply Chain Expo and the APEC CEO Forum in Beijing, Summer Davos 2026 in Dalian, as well as meetings with other partners.

The value of trade between Indonesia and China reached 167.48 billion US dollars in 2025, with Indonesian exports increasing by 16.7 percent. However, this figure remains below Malaysia’s 191.66 billion US dollars and Vietnam’s position as China’s top ASEAN trading partner at 296.14 billion US dollars.

“When we talk about trade, it’s not just the big items. The big three are palm oil, coal, and steel, but behind that there are many smaller volume products,” Anin added.

Kadin’s second objective in visiting China is to increase investment from China into Indonesia.
