Indonesian Business Association Reassures EU Investors as Technical Hurdles Are Quickly Resolved

The Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) Chairwoman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani has revealed that her organisation has succeeded in convincing the European Union to feel comfortable investing in Indonesia.

According to her, businesspeople from the Blue Continent are more confident about investing in Indonesia due to the existence of a debottlenecking task force to address technical problems in the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) cooperation.

Shinta said this task force will also seek solutions or ways out of technical obstacles in cooperation between business actors and interested parties.

According to her, many technical issues are currently being highlighted by investors, including those concerning regulation and ease of doing business in Indonesia.

“We see that there are indeed many matters related to issues as well as concerns from the perspective of, perhaps investors also regarding ease of doing business, regulatory issues and licensing issues,” she told reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office in Jakarta on Friday (21/8/2026).

In addition, Shinta said, the task force can also address technical issues in Indonesia regarding doing business, such as registration issues, certification, and standards problems.

“That is why earlier we also convinced them that we already have a Double Connecting Task Force in the government, which identifies what the issues are, what the solutions are, the way out, so that later the existing barrier issues in the target can be overcome and assisted in their resolution,” said Shinta.

According to Shinta, the presence of the task force in facilitating investment is not only about achieving trade and investment targets, but also for the sake of cooperation between Indonesia and the European Union.

APINDO’s initiative received appreciation from the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia, Denis Chaibi.

“We are very pleased that APINDO is promoting the task force for businesses involved in the implementation of CEPA at the technical and bilateral stages with countries,” he said.
