JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) targets having 750 units at the district/city level throughout Indonesia.

The Head of the TNI AD Information Service, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, stated that these units consist of territorial construction battalions (YTP) to combat support and administrative units.

“In the future, this development concept is part of the grand design for forming forces at the district/city level, with plans for around 750 units consisting of 593 YTP as well as 157 combat support and administrative support units,” Donny explained when confirmed on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Currently, TNI AD has formed around 30 Territorial Construction Brigades (BTP) and 155 Territorial Construction Battalions (Yon TP).

“All of this will be carried out gradually, measurably, and based on regional needs, in accordance with the planning of TNI Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence,” he emphasised.

To meet this target, TNI AD’s territorial units are currently preparing land and supporting facilities for the development of Yon TP.

This step is taken so that the development process can run more optimally.

“As an example, we can see it ourselves in the handling of disasters in the Sumatra region some time ago, where the presence of these units significantly accelerated the response on the ground,” said Donny.

“Both for evacuation and helping to recover infrastructure and areas to normalise the lives of affected communities,” he added.

In addition, Yon TP is also seen as playing a role in supporting food security.

“They (Yon TP soldiers) become pioneers who mobilise the community to cultivate food security lands in the area,” said Donny.
