Indonesian Army States Alert Level One Has Been Downgraded to Alert Level Three
JAKARTA — The Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General Donny Pramono, has stated that alert level one for Indonesian Armed Forces personnel is no longer in effect.
“So the escalation has been lowered to alert level three,” said Donny when met at the Army headquarters (Mabesad) in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12 March 2026).
According to him, alert level one represents the highest stage of readiness, indicating that all elements are prepared, ranging from personnel and equipment to major weapons systems and military hardware.
“So that is a readiness stage. Not starting from alert level three. Alert level one means we are ready for everything,” he added.
Donny emphasised that the implementation of alert level one by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto was not a follow-up to any regional situation.
“This activity is not related to an emergency situation or a response to any particular security condition,” said Donny.
In this regard, Donny stressed that alert level one constitutes internal readiness training and is part of routine procedures to maintain professionalism and soldier preparedness.
He added that the TNI is preparing various important activities in the near future, including security measures ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
“So what I mentioned earlier is an internal readiness alert. It consists of checks on personnel and material readiness so that units remain prepared whenever needed,” he said.
Previously, General Agus Subiyanto, as TNI Commander, issued an alert level one order for all Indonesian Armed Forces personnel as a precautionary measure against developments in the global situation, particularly the escalation of conflict in the Middle East region.
The order was contained in TNI Commander Telegram Number TR/283/2026, signed by the TNI Commander’s Operations Assistant, Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun on 1 March 2026.
Alert level one status has been in effect since 1 March 2026 until a time to be determined.
Agus stated that alert level one in the military is a common military terminology. According to him, alert level one refers to soldier readiness in handling natural disasters.
“Alert level one is a military term, a term commonly used in the military. I have implemented alert level one in units, specifically the Natural Disaster Quick Response Forces. So, each regional command has one battalion on alert level one in case there is a natural disaster in its area,” said Agus at the Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening (10 March 2026).
However, when asked whether alert level one was related to the escalating Middle East conflict, Agus did not provide a clear answer.
“Okay, thank you, it is common practice, alert level one,” he said.
