Indonesian Army Soldier Found Dead in Tangerang, Four Arrested
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police have arrested four suspects in the murder of a man believed to be an Indonesian Army soldier on Jalan Raya Pondok Hijau Golf, Curug Sangereng Village, Kelapa Dua District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The four suspects were apprehended in less than 24 hours after the victim’s body was discovered in front of the Turquoise Cluster junction in the early hours of Sunday (19/7) at around 5.45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
The case began with the discovery of a man lying on the roadside on Sunday (19/7/2026) at approximately 5.45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The victim was identified as Arif Budi Sampurna, a serving member of the Indonesian Army. Based on the crime scene investigation, the victim suffered multiple wounds from a sharp object and was pronounced dead.
Following the report, a joint team from the South Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Kelapa Dua Police conducted an investigation by gathering witness statements, processing the crime scene, and tracking the whereabouts of the perpetrators. Police subsequently identified and arrested four suspects with the initials BR, RRGB, MKN, and H in several locations not far from the scene. Police stated the four suspects are alleged to have committed violence against the victim, leading to his death.
Although the suspects have been detained, police say the investigation is ongoing to fully uncover the chronology, motive, and the role of each suspect in the incident. The discovery of the body, which had stab wounds, shocked local residents who were exercising in the Pondok Hijau Golf area in the morning.
