Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is showcasing a series of main weapons systems (alutsista) at the TNI Fair event held at Silang Monas, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, General Maruli Simanjuntak, stated that the exhibition, which runs until Sunday (20/9), is highly beneficial, particularly for the Army.

He believes that through this event, the Army can further reassure the public that its weaponry is of high quality and sophisticated.

“I believe we are striving to show the public the current condition of our forces to reassure them that we are continuously training and keeping pace with technological developments to remain ready to defend our nation,” Maruli said when met at the event.

In addition to the weaponry, he noted that the Army has also presented 22 booths representing each corps and type of military equipment under the Army’s command.

Through these booths, he hopes the public can obtain all the information they desire regarding the various corps and equipment within the Indonesian Army.

“So, people can ask, ‘what is the function of this?’ or ‘what is this for?’ I believe it can all be explained there,” Maruli added.

According to data received by ANTARA, there are 85 units consisting of weaponry and vehicles being displayed by the Army at the event.

One of the featured pieces of equipment, which attracted many visitors for photographs, is the Leopard 2 RI tank from the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad).
