Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Army’s Public Affairs Chief, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, stated that the screening of the film ‘Pig Feast’ is part of the freedom of expression and speech that must be respected.

‘We respect freedom of expression and creative freedom within democracy, but every information product also carries moral responsibility to avoid fostering hatred or distortion of state institutions,’ Donny said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.

Donny noted that much of the film’s content is inaccurate and could exacerbate societal tensions.

However, he did not specify which details in the film were factually incorrect.

In addition to questioning the film’s accuracy, the Indonesian Army has also called for transparency regarding the film’s funding sources.

Donny explained that this is necessary for the public to know who is responsible for the film’s production.

‘Transparency is crucial to maintaining objectivity. This is not an accusation, but part of public transparency. We are not against criticism, but criticism must be grounded in balanced data and on-the-ground facts,’ he added.
