Indonesian Army Plans to Expand Territorial and Combat Units Across Regions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian Army’s Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono, stated that the Indonesian Army plans to build numerous territorial and combat units across all regions.
“This development concept is part of the grand design for forming forces at the district or city level, with plans for around 750 units consisting of 593 Territorial Development Battalions (YTP) and 157 combat support and administrative support units,” said Donny when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
Donny explained that the development is intended to enable the TNI to contribute to economic development and create security for the community.
In the future, he continued, the YTP will assist the community’s economy through land and livestock management for residents’ food needs, provision of healthcare facilities, village infrastructure development, and assistance in post-natural disaster mitigation.
Meanwhile, the combat units aim to support troop administration processes as well as regional security.
To date, Donny said, the Indonesian Army already has 155 YTP spread across all regions of Indonesia. These 155 YTP are under the command of 30 Territorial Development Brigades (BTP).
The Indonesian Army has also undertaken several efforts to pursue the YTP development target, one of which is preparing locations and supporting infrastructure to bolster YTP development.
“The Indonesian Army is gradually preparing land and supporting facilities for YTP development so that the process can run more optimally,” he said.
Donny is confident that all levels of the Indonesian Army can synergise well in completing the YTP development target across Indonesia by 2026.
