Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is striving to enhance inter-regional connectivity by building usable bridges for the community. This has been carried out by TNI AD in recent times, specifically following the rollout of the Pioneer Bridge Development Programme. In an official press release from TNI AD received in Jakarta on Friday, the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, stated that TNI AD has successfully constructed 336 bridges in various regions to date. These 336 bridges were built in several locations, including disaster-affected areas in Aceh, Padang, and North Sumatra. General Maruli added that this number will continue to grow, as the force is currently constructing 908 more bridges. He continued that the construction will persist until the number of bridges surpasses 7,000, in line with the target of the Pioneer Bridge Development Programme. General Maruli further noted that this bridge-building programme proves that TNI AD focuses not only on territorial defence but also on initiatives for public prosperity. With these bridges, community mobility can increase further, thereby enlivening inter-regional economic and educational activities. General Maruli also assessed that this bridge development programme aligns with the policy direction of President Prabowo Subianto, who seeks to bring welfare to the people. Therefore, General Maruli committed to continuing the bridge construction programme throughout Indonesia.
