The Head of Public Information of the Indonesian Army (Kadispenad), Brigadier General Donny Pramono, said Denpom Jaya/1 Tangerang immediately coordinated with the South Tangerang Police and other units related to the incident. On Monday night, 2 March, the soldier in question had been detained and is currently undergoing questioning at Madenpom Jaya/1 Tangerang. Donny said the investigation is ongoing and thorough. Based on initial findings, the incident occurred due to a dispute following a minor vehicle contact, and the soldier is suspected of brandishing a pistol-like object. The object was later found to be a wooden toy gun. ‘The accused soldier is currently detained by Denpom Jaya/1 Tangerang and is being investigated. We will ensure the legal process proceeds in accordance with applicable law, including chronology, witness statements, and collection of evidence,’ Donny said in a written statement on Wednesday, 4 March. Donny added the Indonesian Army will not tolerate any violations of the law or actions that could damage public trust. ‘If found guilty, he will be dealt with firmly in line with the law and military discipline. The Indonesian Army remains committed to maintaining public trust and the professionalism of soldiers through a transparent and accountable enforcement mechanism,’ he concluded.
