Indonesian Army Constructs Bridges in West Sumatra Disaster Area
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army, through the Engineering Construction Unit 12 Karana Jaya (Yonzikon 12/KJ), is building bridges in West Sumatra to restore land access previously damaged by flooding disasters. In an official press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, it was explained that the bridges are located at four points in Solok Regency and Agam Regency. Commander of Yonzikon 12/KJ, Lieutenant Colonel Czi I Made Dwi Bagus Yudistira, in his press statement, said that the bridge construction has been underway for one week. Over the course of one week of work, I Made mentioned that his unit faced various challenges. “The challenges of the terrain and weather were indeed quite dynamic, but the discipline and precision of the soldiers were the main keys. We are focused on making this bridge functional as soon as possible for the benefit of the community,” said I Made. He stated that the participation of the local community also helped, allowing the bridge construction process to proceed optimally. Through strong collaboration between the TNI and the community, the four bridges in the two regencies were finally completed on Tuesday (7/4). I Made assured that the bridges were built to the highest standards for the comfort and safety of the community. With the presence of these bridges, I Made hopes that community activities can return to normal. “Access to education for schoolchildren is now back to normal, farmers can resume distributing their agricultural produce, and the economy, which was previously stalled, is starting to move dynamically,” he concluded.
