Indonesian Army Completes Modular Bridge Construction, Opening Access to Two Villages in North Sumatra
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has completed the construction of a modular bridge in Lubuk Palas Village, Silau Laut Subdistrict, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, on Sunday (29/3/2026).
The Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono, stated that the construction was carried out by the Asahan Military District Command (Kodim 0208/Asahan) through the Air Joman Military Rayon Command (Koramil 07/Air Joman) together with personnel from the 1/Dhira Dharma Combat Engineer Battalion (Yonzipur).
“The bridge can now be utilised by the community as a connecting access between Lubuk Palas Village and Silau Baru Village,” said Donny in his statement on Monday (30/3/2026).
Subsequently, the foundation construction was carried out through concrete pouring and the creation of supports on both sides of the bridge.
“After that, TNI personnel, along with technical teams and the community, worked together to assemble the modular frame on site until the main bridge structure was formed,” he said.
In the final stage, said Donny, the installation of floor plates and the filling of the approach ramps as entry and exit access was carried out, making the bridge ready for public use.
“The hoisting of the Red and White flag at the location symbolises the spirit of togetherness and dedication in the construction,” Donny stated.
“The existence of this bridge is expected to smooth the mobility of residents, facilitate the distribution of agricultural products and economic activities, and improve the welfare of the community in the region,” he emphasised.
