Indonesian Army Collaborates with Food Coordinating Ministry to Manage Waste
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is collaborating with the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs to implement the government’s programme in the field of waste management. The partnership was marked by a meeting between the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, and the Deputy for Coordination of Food Affordability and Security at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, Nani Hendiarti, at the Army Headquarters in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5). In an official press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, it was explained that Maruli, along with his staff, fully supports the environmentally friendly waste management programme. Furthermore, he assessed that waste management will also impact national energy security and food security. Meanwhile, Nani appreciated the Indonesian Army’s support for the national programme. Nani stated that the involvement of TNI AD, particularly through territorial units, can facilitate the government in educating the public and assisting in the implementation of waste management from the local to national levels. She also outlined several collaboration opportunities that can be undertaken with TNI AD, including strengthening environmental education, community-based waste management, and optimising waste processing facilities in various regions. Through this collaboration, Nani hopes that the waste management programme can be carried out maximally and simultaneously across all regions.
