Indonesian Army Cleans Two Schools from Mud After Disaster in North Sumatra
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Army personnel, part of the Natural Disaster Response Task Force, cleaned two schools that were covered in mud following a flood in Tapanuli Tengah, North Sumatra, on Thursday.
In an official press release received in Jakarta, it was explained that the two schools cleaned were SDN 152981 1A and SDN 152982 1B, in Tukka Village, Tukka District, Tapanuli Tengah Regency.
The Head of the Indonesian Army’s Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General Donny Pramono, when confirmed in Jakarta, said that the personnel deployed to clean the schools were from the 0211/Tapanuli Tengah Military District Command, along with soldiers from the 906/SLG Task Force.
In addition to the personnel, local residents and school staff also helped the Indonesian Army personnel clean several parts of the school.
The soldiers cleaned the school using manual tools such as shovels, scoops, brooms, and even their bare hands.
They cleaned several parts of the school, starting from the front yard, classrooms, to the school’s drainage systems, which were covered in mud.
Donny ensured that the cleaning would continue until the schools could be used again by teachers and students for learning activities.
With this effort, Donny hopes that the Indonesian Army can help the central government restore the region of North Sumatra after the disaster.
