The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has issued a clarification regarding a viral video showing a high-ranking officer’s aide being stopped during the Jogja Marathon 2026. The incident, which circulated widely on social media, occurred on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

Brigadier General Donny Pramono, Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), stated that the event was a misunderstanding between track officials and the aide of Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono, Commander of the 072/Pamungkas Military Resort Command. “We can explain that the incident was a misunderstanding on the ground between the track supervisor and the aide during the activity,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, as reported by Antara.

Brigadier General Yuniar was participating in the marathon alongside his wife, one of his children, and his aide. All four were officially registered participants holding valid race bibs issued by the event organiser. However, during the race, the aide’s bib number reportedly fell off along the crowded route, leading to the misunderstanding when officials conducted a check.

“In the execution, it is suspected that the bib came loose while on the quite congested track, causing a misunderstanding during the inspection by officials,” Donny explained. The situation prompted the officials to stop the aide, who was running while documenting Yuniar during the competition. The moment was captured on social media, showing Yuniar briefly arguing with officials as he objected to his aide being halted mid-race.

Following the incident, the event organiser and Brigadier General Yuniar communicated and clarified the matter directly. “All parties understand that the incident was purely a technical issue on the ground and it has been resolved amicably,” Donny said. The Army also expressed appreciation for the committee’s professional work in maintaining order and enforcing the race regulations. Donny urged the public to view the incident proportionally and not to be misled by unconfirmed facts.
