Indonesian Army Clarifies Eviction of Houses in Lenteng Agung, Denies Reports of Clashes and Land Disputes
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Army has clarified reports of an altercation between security personnel and residents during an enforcement operation in RW 10, Lenteng Agung Ward, Jagakarsa Subdistrict, South Jakarta, on Monday (6/3/2026).
“We need to straighten this out: what happened in the Lenteng Agung area was neither a clash nor a land dispute,” said the Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), Brigadier General TNI Donny Pramono, in his statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
He explained that the activity was an enforcement and demolition of 15 former Zikon 15 service houses carried out by the Army Engineering Centre (Pusziad) on land and building assets owned by the Indonesian Army.
“The former Zikon 15 area that was enforced covers 15,250 m² and has hitherto been designated as service housing for active soldiers,” he clarified.
The enforcement was carried out in line with the development of the unit from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Engineering Company (Kizijihandak) to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Engineering Detachment (Denzijihandak), which impacts an increase in personnel as well as the need for service housing and infrastructure facilities.
He emphasised that the service houses in that location are classified as Group II State Houses, designated for active soldiers and must be returned to the unit if the occupants have retired, transferred, or are no longer eligible.
“Socialisation activities began in July and August 2024, involving RT, RW, ward, subdistrict, the National Land Agency (BPN), and the service house occupants,” he added.
Warnings were also issued through Warning Letter I on 16 October 2024, Warning Letter II on 30 December 2024, and Warning Letter III on 5 August 2025.
“The enforcement was only carried out on 15 units of houses that were already vacant and whose electricity supply had been cut off since January 2026,” he stressed.
The activity was accompanied by personnel from the Lenteng Agung Police Sector (Polsek) and other relevant parties, ensuring the entire process ran in accordance with applicable procedures and legal regulations.
