Indonesian Army Claims Soldier Violations Minimal Compared to Service
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Head of the Indonesian Army’s Personnel Management Office, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, claimed that the number of soldier violations is very small compared to their service.
“The public needs to be objective as the number of violations is minimal compared to the total daily service of soldiers,” Donny said in Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Friday (29 May 2026).
Donny did not disclose the number of violations committed by Indonesian Army soldiers.
However, he noted that many humanitarian missions by the military remain unreported by mainstream and social media.
Additionally, soldiers often provide logistical support to communities in isolated areas.
“Let not thousands of soldiers’ service be overshadowed by the actions of a few individuals,” Donny said.
However, Donny emphasised that the Indonesian Army would not defend violations or be overly defensive about past actions.
He also assured that all soldier violations would be processed according to applicable laws and regulations.
Moreover, the Indonesian Army will conduct evaluations through personnel development, ideological strengthening, surveillance, and digital literacy for soldiers.
“Because not just in the military, every soldier is subject to institutional evaluation to continuously improve,” Donny said.
