The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) is constructing public facilities to ease the lives of residents in rural areas. One of the efforts involves building five communal sanitation units (MCK) in the Cianjur region, West Java. The construction is being carried out by the TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa (TMMD) Task Force of the 0608/Cianjur Military District Command. Cianjur Military District Commander Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Bistok Barry Simarmata stated that his unit is building the MCK facilities to provide residents with proper clean water access for daily needs such as bathing and washing clothes. According to Bistok, proper MCK facilities will lead to a cleaner environment, thus protecting residents from various diseases, including stunting. Currently, the construction process is in the land clearing and foundation building stages. He assured that the facilities will be completed soon for immediate public use. The 0608/Cianjur Military District Command is currently building rural infrastructure under the TMMD programme. According to earlier statements from the Chief of Staff of the 061/Surya Kancana Military Resort Command, Colonel Inf. Yudi Ruskandar, the TMMD programme includes various projects such as constructing water points, repairing asphalt roads, renovating residents’ houses, and developing food security land. Data received by ANTARA indicates the programme includes the concreting of an 872-metre road and the asphalting of a 90-metre road. Additionally, five uninhabitable houses belonging to local residents will be repaired. The programme also involves building five water source points in various areas of Cianjur. Furthermore, one hectare of land will be managed as a food barn, planted with sweet corn and various other crops. All construction work began on 16 July 2026 and is targeted for completion on 13 August 2026.
