Indonesian National Armed Forces Again Dispatches 744 Troops to Lebanon, Commander Highlights International Confidence

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto led the departure of 744 personnel assigned to the Garuda Contingent Task Force (Konga) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to undertake a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.

In an official press release from the TNI Air Public Affairs Office (Dispenau) received in Jakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026, the departure took place at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday.

The Commander stated that the TNI’s involvement in world peace missions is a reflection of international trust in the professionalism of Indonesian soldiers. He urged the personnel to uphold Indonesia’s good name and the Garuda Contingent during their duties by succeeding in the peace mission and by adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The Commander also reminded the soldiers to prioritise their own safety by performing their duties in accordance with applicable safety standards and procedures.

“Increase vigilance against developments in the situation, as well as to maintain morale and health during the assignment,” Agus said in the press release. He hoped these directives would motivate the soldiers to deliver their best performance while carrying out the mission in Lebanon.

A total of 744 personnel of the UNIFIL Konga Task Force will serve for one year, replacing the previous personnel who have completed their tour of duty. The personnel departing comprises 571 soldiers of the Indonesian Army (TNI AD), 79 sailors of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), 63 personnel of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), and 31 staff from the TNI Headquarters.

It is understood that the government and the TNI have decided to continue deploying TNI personnel attached to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to Lebanon as a tangible demonstration of Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining world peace.
