On Dec. 17, 1994 I saw the movie I Love Trouble at Studio 21 Pontianak (theater 5). Upon entering the theater I heard the song Mr. Love sung by Connie Francis. As soon as I was seated, as Connie's song was finished, I was startled to hear Indonesia Raya, Indonesia's national anthem, played and, at the same time, an announcement on the screen asking viewers to stand up.

In my opinion, it is not appropriate to sing Indonesia Raya at such occasions, giving the impression that the national anthem can be juxtaposed to pop and rock songs. When the show was over, I went to see the manager to enquire about the matter. I was told that it was based on the instruction of the Department of Information. If that is the case I would like to appeal that the policy be reconsidered.
