Indonesian and South Korean Navies Conduct Joint Underwater Operations Training

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) have conducted joint training in the field of underwater operations at Jinhae Naval Base and Jeju Island, South Korea.

According to a press release from the Indonesian Navy received in Jakarta on Monday, the activity was part of the Dive Exercise (DIVEX) 2026, held from 25 August to 30 August 2026.

The Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, Rear Admiral Tunggul, explained that the training was organised to sharpen the diving skills of TNI AL personnel, enabling them to execute various underwater missions.

“The training is specifically designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of both TNI AL and ROKN personnel in conducting underwater diving and rescue operations during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) activities,” said Tunggul.

In addition to honing diving expertise, Tunggul explained that the activity also serves as a platform to strengthen military relations between South Korea and Indonesia.

Tunggul added that the entire series of exercises proceeded smoothly.

He ensured that all personnel remained safe, as established safety standards were strictly implemented throughout the training.

Through this activity, Tunggul expressed his hope that the capabilities of TNI AL personnel will become increasingly sharp and that the relationship between Indonesia and South Korea will continue to strengthen.
