Indonesian and Malaysian Air Forces Conduct Joint Border Patrol

The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) are cooperating to secure the border region between Indonesia and Malaysia using fighter aircraft. The joint patrol series, titled Coordinated Patrol (Patkor) Malindo Siri I Year 2026, was conducted on Wednesday (15/7). “The joint patrol is part of bilateral cooperation to enhance airspace security while strengthening relations between the two air forces,” said Head of the TNI AU Information Service (Kadispenau) Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana in an official press release received in Jakarta on Monday. I Nyoman stated that each air force deployed two fighter aircraft. The TNI AU used F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from Squadron 16, while the TUDM deployed two F-18 Hornet fighter jets. “The TUDM operated two F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets as air patrol elements and another F/A-18 Hornet to document the entire series of joint patrols from the air,” he said. I Nyoman stated that the patrol series proceeded smoothly and safely, with all operations conducted according to safety standards to ensure the pilots and aircraft remained secure. Through this patrol, I Nyoman expressed hope that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia would grow closer and that each country’s territory would remain protected.
