Indonesian Ambassador’s Account as UAE Targeted by Missiles and Drones
Indonesian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Judha Nugraha, described the security situation in the country following an Iranian attack that involved missiles and drones targeting American military bases in the UAE. The assault is part of a broader escalation in the region involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Ambassador Judha said the strikes from Iran remain ongoing at the time. Based on information received by the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi (KBRI) from local authorities, thousands of projectiles have been directed towards the UAE over the past few days as the conflict has intensified.
‘Based on information from local authorities, there have been a total of 1,331 attacks in the form of missiles or drones directed at the UAE by Iran. The majority of these attacks could be intercepted by air defence systems,’ Judha told Tempo on Friday evening, 6 March 2026.
According to Judha, the UAE’s air defence systems succeeded in thwarting most of the attacks, thereby limiting the extent of damage. Nevertheless, several projectiles were reported to have fallen in certain areas, causing casualties.
Government data indicates three people were killed as a result of the strikes. The deceased were citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, who worked in the UAE as migrant workers.
‘From local government data, there are three deaths. They were Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Nepalis. In addition, 96 others were injured,’ Judha said.
Judha emphasised that, to date, there have been no Indonesian citizens among the victims of the missile strikes. The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi continues to monitor the situation of Indonesian nationals and is coordinating with local authorities to ensure their safety.
He said the KBRI is also continuing to engage with the Indonesian communities in various parts of the UAE to ensure their safety amid the escalating regional conflict. ‘To date, no Indonesians have been harmed by the Iranian missile strikes,’ Judha stated.
The Middle East conflict has flared up again as tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel have risen. The escalation has triggered a series of retaliatory attacks that have spread to several Gulf states, including the UAE.
The UAE has become one of the affected countries due to its strategic position and its political and security ties with Western nations. The missiles and drones launched by Iran are reported to target several sites believed to be connected to American military interests.
In this context, UAE security authorities have tightened air defences and increased vigilance at strategic facilities. The local government has also issued various safety advisories for the public and the millions of foreign workers in the country.
The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Judha said, continues to monitor the security situation and to prepare protective measures for Indonesian citizens should conditions worsen. He confirmed that the situation of Indonesians in the UAE remains safe for now.
