Jakarta – Indonesia’s Ambassador to Iran and Turkmenistan, Roy Soemirat, reported the latest situation in Iran following an armed attack targeting the region on Saturday 28 February 2026 local time. To date, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to maintain two-way communication with all Indonesian citizens residing in various cities across Iran.

Based on official data from the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, at least 329 Indonesian citizens have formally registered. Ambassador Roy stressed that the primary priority is to provide necessary protection and assistance to these citizens.

“This communication is vital for us to conduct the most accurate assessment to provide the necessary assistance and protection for Indonesian citizens,” said Roy Soemirat in his statement.

As of 14:30 local time, Ambassador Roy reported that all Indonesian citizen contact points reached indicated they did not feel any direct threat to their safety. Nevertheless, the embassy continues to advise Indonesian citizens to take independent safety measures for themselves and their families.

“Security assessments regarding Iran will continue to be conducted by the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran and coordinated with the Foreign Ministry office in Jakarta,” he added.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Mulachela confirmed that an armed aerial attack had occurred in several cities around 09:45 local time.

“We continue to monitor developments in the security situation in Iran, and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran has confirmed the occurrence of armed aerial attacks in several cities,” explained Vahd Nabyl.

The government through the Foreign Ministry has also issued the latest circular containing recommendations and concrete measures for Indonesian citizens to maintain safety whilst remaining at their residences. All Indonesian citizens in Iran are urged to remain calm, heighten vigilance, and follow instructions from local authorities.
