MEDINA, KOMPAS.com - The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, expressed thanks to the Saudi government for the fast track service or Makkah Route.

This service enables Hajj pilgrims to proceed directly to buses upon arrival without undergoing immigration checks at Saudi airports.

“Alhamdulillah, we extend our thanks to the Saudi government for enabling us to expedite immigration processes through the fast track, Thariq Mekah,” stated Abdul Aziz while welcoming the Hajj pilgrims from the Jakarta Pondok Gede batch (JKG) who arrived on the first day of arrivals, Wednesday (22/4/2026).

As a result, pilgrims require less than 30 minutes after arrival.

If this occurs, all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims can proceed directly to buses and be transported to their respective hotels.

“For now, only half of them. In the future, we hope all pilgrims will experience such processes (fast track),” he said.

Kompas.com observations noted that the pilgrims arrived at 07:40 Saudi time at Medina Airport.

They then exited through the Fast Track Terminal gate without the usual immigration checks.

Subsequently, the pilgrims were directed to board buses and transported to hotels in Medina, including Taiba Front and Makarem Haram Suites.

“They (the early batch pilgrims) will stay in Medina for nine days before departing to Mecca (for the Hajj peak),” he added.
