Indonesian Ambassador in Tehran Attends Final Tribute to Khamenei
The Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran, Rolliansyah Soemirat, attended the tribute ceremony for the former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Rolliansyah was present alongside several Indonesian citizens residing in Iran.
According to the official Instagram account of the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran (@indonesiaintehran) on Monday (6/7/2026), Rolliansyah was seen at the Grand Mosalla of Tehran on Saturday (4/7). Video footage shows Rolliansyah and other citizens positioned in the area outside the building.
Rolliansyah’s group was seen wearing black shirts. Outside the building area, several Iranian citizens were observed waving Iranian and red flags.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) revealed that the Indonesian government was invited to participate in the series of funeral processions for the late Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamney. The government expressed its appreciation for the invitation.
“The Government of the Republic of Indonesia expresses its deepest appreciation for the invitation from the Government of Iran to attend the series of tribute events for the late Ayatollah Khamenei,” said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Yvonne Mewengkang, to journalists on Saturday (4/7).
The government dispatched the Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran, Rolliansyah Soemirat, as its representative. Yvonne noted that Iran expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s decision to appoint the Ambassador to represent the Indonesian government.
“On 2 July 2026, the Iranian authorities informed all diplomatic representatives in Iran that the official tribute ceremonies would be attended by high-ranking officials from the central government. Iran expressed appreciation for the decision of the Indonesian Government to officially appoint the Indonesian Ambassador in Tehran to represent Indonesia,” said Yvonne.
According to official information from the Iranian Government, the series of tribute events for Khamenei took place from 3 to 9 July across various cities in Iran and Iraq. Numerous countries sent delegations to attend the funeral ceremonies.
Delegations from various nations were seen entering the halls for the final tribute to Khamenei. Iranian officials recited different verses from the Al-Qur’an for each delegation.
According to official information from the IRNA news agency on Sunday (5/7), delegations from Qatar and Saudi Arabia were among those sent to pay their final respects to Khamenei.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar sent official delegations despite tensions between them and Iran, which have escalated as Iran has repeatedly launched retaliatory attacks against US facilities located in both countries. The Chairman of the Shura Council of Qatar represented Doha in Tehran, while Saudi Arabia sent a delegation of six members led by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed El Khereiji.
Other notable attendees included the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili; the Prime Minister of Iraq, Nizar Amidi; the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif; Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev; and Deputy Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China, He Wei. Ministers from Malaysia, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Kazakhstan were also part of the delegations. Representatives from the Taliban, Houthis, and Hamas were also present.
