Indonesian Ambassador Attends Muhammadiyah Malaysia's Qurbani Event
Selangor, Malaysia - Indonesia’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dato’ Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo attended the Qurbani (sacrificial animal slaughter and distribution) event organised by the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) Malaysia in Gombak, Selangor, on Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri, Wednesday.
During the event, PCIM Malaysia, in collaboration with the Special Branch of Aisyiyah (PCIA) Malaysia, distributed at least 12 cows and 10 goats for Qurbani, including one cow and one goat donated by Ambassador Iman.
‘Today we are performing Qurbani. The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) is collaborating with the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah in Malaysia. All went smoothly and safely,’ the ambassador told media in Gombak, Selangor.
Ambassador Iman also thanked Muhammadiyah and the organising committee for their dedicated efforts.
‘Of course, Qurbani is an annual event, but equally important, may it demonstrate our gratitude for the blessings we have and enhance our piety and faith,’ said Danang.
Meanwhile, PCIM Malaysia Chairman Fauzi Fatkhur said this year’s Qurbani event was particularly special due to full support from the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian Embassy.
Fauzi explained that Eid al-Adha is not merely about animal sacrifice, but also a time for reflection on the great commemoration and self-reflection to honour the sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail.
‘This Qurbani will be distributed to the local community, Rohingya refugees, the Orang Asli in Gombak, and Indonesian workers in Malaysia. We will distribute it through our branches across Malaysia,’ Fauzi said.
According to observations during the Qurbani process, several parties increased the number of cows and goats to be sacrificed.
The event was also attended by officials from the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian Embassy and several teachers from the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian School who are members of PCIM Malaysia.
