The Commander of the Air Force Military Police Centre, Air Vice Marshal Daan Sulfi, has stated that four soldiers involved in the assault that led to the death of Sergeant AMF are facing dishonorable discharge (PTDH).

Dismissal is a likely outcome because the suspects are facing charges that carry prison sentences of more than one year. “A threat of punishment of over six months is sufficient for dismissal. This is even more certain given the threats range from over one year up to nine years,” Daan said during a press conference at the Air Force Military Police headquarters in East Jakarta on Wednesday.

The suspects are charged under several articles related to assault resulting in death. These include Article 131 paragraph 3 of the Military Criminal Code in conjunction with the Indonesian Criminal Code, regarding military assault causing death, which carries a maximum sentence of nine years. Other charges include premeditated grievous bodily harm resulting in death, carrying a maximum of nine years, and assault resulting in death, carrying a maximum of seven years.

Nevertheless, the authorities will leave the final verdict regarding dismissal and imprisonment to the military court judges. Currently, the focus remains on completing the case files for submission to the military prosecutor to ensure the legal process proceeds to trial.

Previously, Daan explained the chronology of the assault. The incident began when one suspect, Sergeant MTS, called his junior, Sergeant RP, on Tuesday (8/9). During the call, RP unilaterally hung up, which offended MTS. MTS subsequently requested that RP, along with colleagues AMF and ZN, meet him at the Galaxy Mess of the Air Force Psychological Service at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Wednesday (9/9).
