Indonesian Air Force readies six transport aircraft for logistics aid to East Nusa Tenggara

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service (Kadispenau) Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana said his office has prepared six aircraft to send logistical assistance to earthquake disaster locations in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The deployment of these aircraft is intended to accelerate the distribution of aid so that communities affected by the disaster can promptly receive food and other necessities.

When confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday, Nyoman said the six aircraft have been assigned since Monday (17/8).

“The aircraft strength consists of two C-130J Super Hercules, one C-130 Hercules, one Airbus A400M, and two Boeing 737,” he said.

Since Monday, Nyoman said, a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft has flown to Labuan Bajo carrying 13,500 kilograms of aid.

Another C-130J Super Hercules aircraft has also departed for Maumere carrying 13,563 kilograms of aid.

Furthermore, an Airbus A400M transport aircraft has flown to Labuan Bajo carrying 20,779 kilograms of aid.

Two Boeing 737 aircraft were also deployed to Maumere, each carrying 10,000 kilograms of aid.

As of now, Nyoman said, these aircraft remain on standby to transport logistical assistance to NTT as needed in the field.

Nyoman confirmed that Indonesian Air Force transport aircraft will continue to be on standby until conditions in NTT are conducive and the situation of affected communities gradually recovers.
