Indonesian Air Force Holds Open Base Event, Residents Enthusiastically View F-16 Fighting Falcons Up Close
Residents crowded Hang Nadim Airport in Batam to participate in the Indonesian Air Force’s Open Base event, which featured six F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets. The event was organised to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and to serve as an aerospace education platform for the public.
Visitors were able to see the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets up close, with pilots walking alongside the aircraft following their flight demonstrations. In addition to showcasing the Indonesian Air Force’s military hardware, the activity aimed to educate the community on the world of aerospace and the Air Force’s role in maintaining Indonesia’s airspace sovereignty.
Enthusiasm among visitors was evident from the early morning, with many families taking the opportunity to introduce their children to fighter jets and the aviation profession through these free public educational activities.
