Indonesian Air Force ensures construction of supporting facilities for Rafale jets continues
The Commander of Squadron 12, Lieutenant Colonel Pnb Binggi “Rayden” Nobel, stated that the construction of supporting facilities for the Rafale fighter jets at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru, Riau, is currently ongoing. This infrastructure development is being carried out to facilitate the operations of the Rafale fleet, which is expected to increase to a total of 42 aircraft.
The supporting facilities in question include hangars, engine maintenance areas, and various technical equipment required for the aircraft’s needs. Binggi explained that the construction process is proceeding alongside the operation of several existing Rafale support facilities in Riau.
“As it progresses, the existing buildings and facilities are being developed according to the established construction calendar and remain on schedule,” said Binggi. While he could not confirm the exact completion date, he expressed confidence that the facilities being built by the Indonesian Air Force meet the necessary standards and quality to support aircraft operations.
The Indonesian Air Force maintains three specialised squadrons for the Rafale fighter jets, one of which is Squadron 12 at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base. Currently, Squadron 12 houses six Rafale fighter jets and eight pilots, with numbers expected to increase in the future.
