Indonesian Air Force enhances personnel capability to face radar technology developments

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) is enhancing the capabilities of its personnel in radar control through a Modernisation and Radar Technology Development Workshop for the 2026 fiscal year, aiming to strengthen the air defence system. Air Force First Marshal Gatot Sutomo, Deputy Assistant for Communications and Electronics to the Air Force Chief of Staff (Waaskomlek KSAU), stated that strengthening radar systems is necessary to face evolving air defence threats. “Modernisation of radar systems does not only focus on updating defence equipment, but must also be balanced with improving the quality of human resources who operate, maintain, and develop them,” Gatot said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Gatot, developments in military technology, such as stealth aircraft, hypersonic missiles, and electronic warfare capabilities, require the TNI AU to continuously strengthen its radar system capabilities. Therefore, the TNI AU continues to develop radar technology to be able to detect various air threats that could potentially disrupt national security. In addition to modernising equipment, the TNI AU also emphasises improving personnel competency so they can optimally operate, maintain, and develop radar systems. Gatot expressed hope that the training would enhance personnel’s understanding of radar technology developments, enabling them to optimise its application in supporting air defence tasks.
