Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces Air Force (TNI AU) has eased the burden on residents affected by the landslide disaster in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency, by providing basic necessity packages on Tuesday (31/3). In a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, it was explained that the activity was carried out to mark the 80th Anniversary of the TNI AU. “This social service aims to help alleviate the burden on the community while strengthening the relationship between the TNI AU and the people,” said the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU), Air Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono. According to Tonny, the TNI AU not only plays a role in safeguarding Indonesia’s airspace but must also contribute directly to protecting and assisting the community. Such roles, he said, have frequently been fulfilled by deploying Air Force personnel on humanitarian missions, including aiding the evacuation of residents affected by the disaster in Cisarua some time ago. During the event, Tonny and his team distributed 6,000 basic necessity packages to residents in the village. In addition, they established a health service post that served approximately 1,300 residents. The services provided included general health check-ups and laboratory examinations. The post also offered consultations with specialist doctors, including paediatricians, internists, ophthalmologists, and dermatologists and venereologists. Besides health services, the TNI AU also distributed 300 free pairs of glasses to the community. Tonny hopes that the various forms of assistance will help the disaster-affected community meet their daily needs more easily.
