Indonesia wins wushu gold in Italy

JAKARTA: The Indonesian wushu team for the 2002 Asian Games must have gained a morale booster ahead of their departure to Busan, South Korea, after it competed in Italy and returned home with a gold.

The gold was contributed by Arif Harsoyo, who won the 50-55 kilograms division in the Traditional Kung Fu Cup 2002, which was held in Perugia between May 10 and May 12.

Harsoyo beat an Italian in the final, according to a press release distributed to the media at the Indonesian Sports Council (KONI) headquarters on Thursday. But it did not mention the Italian's name.
