Indonesia wins wushu gold in Italy
JAKARTA: The Indonesian wushu team for the 2002 Asian Games must
have gained a morale booster ahead of their departure to Busan,
South Korea, after it competed in Italy and returned home with a
gold.
The gold was contributed by Arif Harsoyo, who won the 50-55
kilograms division in the Traditional Kung Fu Cup 2002, which was
held in Perugia between May 10 and May 12.
Harsoyo beat an Italian in the final, according to a press
release distributed to the media at the Indonesian Sports Council
(KONI) headquarters on Thursday. But it did not mention the
Italian's name.
The Indonesian team, which was made up of three athletes, also
won a silver and bronze, courtesy of Alexander Edward Marentek
and Alfritz Maweru respectively. --JP
