Indonesia Wins WTO Disputes Against EU, Safeguarding Rp7.34 Trillion in Export Access
The Ministry of Trade has revealed that Indonesia successfully won a number of trade disputes against the European Union at the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that the victories encompass several of Indonesia’s strategic commodities, including biodiesel, stainless steel, and palm oil products.
“The Ministry of Trade has also succeeded in winning various trade disputes at the WTO against the European Union, ranging from biodiesel, stainless steel, to palm oil products, and resolved various trade barriers abroad,” Budi said during a working meeting with Commission VI of the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, this effort is part of the government’s strategy to expand market access for Indonesian products in various countries. “Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Trade has also continued to expand market access for Indonesian products through various trade agreements. Several trade agreements that have been signed include the Indonesia-Canada CEPA, the upgrading of ATIGA, the ASEAN-China FTA, and the Indonesia-EAEU FTA,” he said.
Budi assessed that the successful resolution of various trade barriers has also delivered a significant economic impact. “The export market access saved is equivalent to Rp7.34 trillion,” he concluded.
