Indonesia wins Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia, through the Ministry of Tourism, has won Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026, as announced by the world-renowned travel platform. ‘This award is very meaningful for us as it reflects the authentic voices of travellers—their memories, their stories, and the genuine experiences they bring home,’ Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said in an official statement released in Jakarta on Wednesday. The award was presented by Tripadvisor’s Senior Director of Media, Hotel and Growth Justien Reid to Widiyanti at a ceremony coinciding with the opening of the Indonesia Pavilion at ITB Berlin 2026, the tourism fair at Berlin Expo Center City, Berlin, Germany on Tuesday (3 March). Widiyanti explained that the award is given to destinations, hotels, restaurants, and traveller activities worldwide based on millions of reviews and ratings collected over a 12-month period. Consequently, the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best winners are determined directly by platform users—real travellers from around the world who share their experiences and stories. Of the millions of listings on Tripadvisor, fewer than one percent achieve this distinction. The Ministry of Tourism is committed to maintaining destination quality standards, strengthening data- and trend-based promotion, and ensuring inclusive and sustainable tourism growth for national economic advancement. In this regard, she noted that in 2026 Indonesia aims to consolidate its position as a leading global destination. Bali emerged as the top destination chosen by users, reflecting Indonesia’s strong appeal in terms of natural beauty, rich culture, and the quality of tourism services that are increasingly competitive on the international stage. She also extended thanks to all Indonesian tourism stakeholders, from local governments and industry players to associations and the public, who help uphold the quality and sustainability of destinations. Indonesia is currently participating in ITB Berlin 2026 as a strategic moment to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a leading destination in European and global markets, while also encouraging greater international visitor numbers to the country.
