Indonesia Willing to Mediate US-Iran Dispute; Prabowo Ready to Travel to Tehran
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed that the nation deeply regrets the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has resulted in military escalation across the Middle East region.
This statement was issued by the Foreign Ministry via social media on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The ministry has called upon all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
“Indonesia reiterates the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation and resolving differences through peaceful means,” the ministry stated.
The Indonesian Government, through the President of the Republic of Indonesia, has conveyed its readiness to facilitate dialogue to restore conducive security conditions in the region. Should both parties consent, the Indonesian President is willing to travel to Tehran to undertake mediation efforts.
The Foreign Ministry views the escalating tensions in the Middle East as potentially destabilising to regional stability and global peace and security.
Indonesian citizens in affected areas have been advised to remain calm and vigilant, follow local authority directives, and maintain communication with the nearest Indonesian diplomatic mission.
