Indonesia: What a shame!
Indonesia: What a shame!
From Media Indonesia
Our beloved country now has many labels, from the world's most
corrupt country to the largest producer of ecstasy pills on the
planet. The international community considers Indonesia dangerous
in all areas.
Presidents change but corruption continues unchecked. Crime
continues to increase and strange things continue to occur. A
corruptor is considered a hero. Crime proceeds unpunished: the
production of ecstasy pills in Tangerang and the printing of
counterfeit money.
There is no supremacy of the law in this country. The House of
Representatives speaker and the central bank governor are
defendants in a corruption case yet still go about their lives
freely.
The administration of President Megawati Soekarnoputri can do
little to address the nation's problems, particularly the
eradication of corruption, collusion and nepotism. But the
administration is good at rhetoric that increases its popularity
among the people.
