Indonesian pilgrims are advised to limit outdoor activities around Arafah tents.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has officially issued an early weather warning for Thursday, 28 May 2026. Atmospheric conditions in eastern Indonesia are escalating due to the formation of Tropical Cyclone Jangmi in the northern Pacific off Papua.

Residents are urged to enhance preparedness, particularly those in areas classified as Alert for potential heavy to very heavy rainfall, namely Central Papua.

Recent monitoring shows Tropical Cyclone Jangmi moving steadily northwest. Over the next 48 to 72 hours, the intensity of this cyclonic system is forecast to strengthen further.

The cyclone’s presence directly induces convergence and confluence zones stretching from the northern Maluku Sea to northern Papua. Additionally, cyclonic circulation off northern Papua New Guinea is triggering massive rain cloud development across Papua to Papua Highlands.

Given the potential for extreme weather in several areas, BMKG requests the public to regularly update weather information. This is especially crucial for those enjoying the 2026 Idul Adha holiday or engaged in maritime activities.

Latest information is available via the official bmkg.go.id website or the Info BMKG app.

BMKG records maximum temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in several regions, including Aceh, Riau, Bali, Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, West Papua, and East Java.
