Indonesia Voices Support for Two-State Solution and Palestine at BRICS Forum
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia has reaffirmed its support for Palestine and the two-state solution. This was stated by Sugiono while attending the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in New Delhi, India, on Thursday (14 May 2026).
“Indonesia continues to express its full support for Palestine and the Two-State Solution,” said a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted on Friday (15 May 2026).
Foreign Minister Sugiono affirmed that BRICS, as a Global South power, must play an active role in maintaining global peace and stability.
Indonesia also stated that BRICS must be part of the solution, not polarisation.
“The greatest value of BRICS lies in strengthening the voice of developing countries in shaping the future global order,” Sugiono added.
Sugiono emphasised the importance of reforming global governance to address current challenges.
Some of the challenges mentioned include reforming the global trade system to be inclusive, open, and non-discriminatory, with the WTO as the main foundation.
He hopes that the BRICS forum can strengthen collaboration in a number of strategic sectors.
“In the future, Indonesia can utilise the BRICS forum to continue strengthening collaboration in a number of strategic sectors including the economy, climate change, energy, health and the reform of global governance,” he said.
