Indonesia Utilises US$3.4 Billion in JETP Funds for Green Projects, Here's the List
The Indonesian government has confirmed that green economy projects in the country are progressing with financial support from various nations. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that cooperation through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) has successfully financed a range of projects in the country. He stated that from a total JETP funding commitment of US$21.4 billion, US$3.4 billion has been realised for various projects, such as geothermal in Muara Laboh, West Sumatra, and Waste to Energy in West Java. JETP is a crucial part of renewable energy projects, particularly with the inclusion of a 70 gigawatt clean energy target in the power development plan through to 2034. The total green project funding commitment for Indonesia through JETP includes US$11 billion from the International Partners Group (IPG) and US$10 billion from the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). Airlangga noted that this demonstrates strong international confidence in Indonesia’s renewable energy projects. He described the US$21.4 billion commitment as an opportunity to accelerate energy transformation projects in Indonesia, adding that the availability of such a large fund depends on Indonesia and cross-ministry efforts to accelerate its use. By November 2025, Indonesia had successfully mobilised US$3.1 billion through the JETP scheme, with a further US$5.5 billion under negotiation for concrete projects. Several partner countries are also providing technical support in the form of studies and implementation frameworks. Among the projects being undertaken or planned under the JETP funding scheme are the Green Energy Corridor Sulawesi (GECS), a diesel decommissioning programme, geothermal projects in Sumatra, and waste-to-energy projects.
