RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Trade Minister Budi Santoso urged overseas trade representatives to strengthen national export performance. He called for expanded market access, connections with potential buyers, and more effective business matching.
The minister delivered the directive during a meeting with 46 trade representatives on Sunday, 18 October 2026. The meeting took place on the final day of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Tangerang, Banten.
In a written statement on Monday, 19 October 2026, Minister Budi emphasized that trade representatives must deliver measurable contributions to Indonesia’s export growth. The representatives include trade attachés, Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers, trade consuls, and diplomatic personnel.
“We hope all trade attachés and ITPCs remain focused on increasing exports,” Minister Budi Santoso said. He affirmed that different national markets require tailored strategies to unlock more Indonesian export opportunities.
The export push aligns with three Trade Ministry programs supporting national development priorities. These programs focus on domestic market protection, export market expansion, and promoting local products globally.
Santoso urged trade attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC) to develop more creative promotional strategies. He encouraged resource optimization, alternative promotional methods, and business outreach to generate additional export transactions.
The minister also praised overseas representatives for supporting the successful organization of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia. He credited cooperation among diplomatic missions, government agencies, and organizers with attracting international buyers.
“TEI succeeded through everyone’s hard work, from overseas trade representatives to related ministries and agencies,” Santoso said. He added that this cooperation brought buyers to the expo and enabled trade agreements.
On 14 October 2026, the expo’s first day, 168 memorandums of understanding were signed. Their combined transaction value reached US$13.2 billion, reflecting opportunities created by connecting Indonesian exporters with international buyers.
