Indonesia to Showcase 1,000 Books at Tunisia's 40th International Book Fair
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tunis will present more than 1,000 books on Indonesia’s cultural heritage, written in various languages, at the 40th International Book Fair in Tunisia. The KBRI in Tunis, in a press statement received in Jakarta on Friday, said the fair will take place from 23 April to 3 May 2026 in Elkram, Tunis, Tunisia. “We will introduce Indonesian thought and heritage in various languages: Indonesian, Arabic, English, and French,” said the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Tunisia, Zuhairi Misrawi, who attended the press conference on the fair on Friday. Ambassador Zuhairi added that among the more than 1,000 books to be exhibited, there will also be works by prominent Indonesian figures such as Soekarno, Abdurrahman Wahid, and Buya Syafii Maarif, with discussions on those books. “We will also introduce the culture of the Nusantara,” he said. The Executive Director of the Book Fair, Muhammad Shaleh al-Kadri, who also attended the press conference, said this year’s event will involve 37 countries and 400 publishers participating. Furthermore, Tunisia’s Ministry of Culture announced Indonesia as the guest of honour for the 40th International Book Fair in Tunisia. In response to the invitation, Ambassador Zuhairi expressed thanks for Tunisia’s trust in Indonesia as the guest of honour for the 40th International Book Fair in Tunisia. “In 2015, Indonesia was the guest of honour at the International Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. In 2026, Indonesia will be the Guest of Honour at the International Book Fair in Tunisia. This event will strengthen Indonesia-Tunisia bilateral relations,” he said.
