Indonesia to Participate in Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has confirmed that Indonesia will participate in the international Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) to be held in Antalya, Turkey, from 17-19 April 2026.
Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yvonne Mewengkang stated that the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Achmad Rizal Purnama, will represent Indonesia at the ADF agenda and the Group of Eight meeting, which will discuss the Palestinian issue and geopolitical issues in the Middle East.
“The Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey will represent the Indonesian Foreign Minister at the Group of Eight meeting, which is also planned to be attended by a number of officials from other Group of Eight member countries,” Yvonne said in a written statement on Friday.
She emphasised that Indonesia will continue to ensure its active role in the sustainability of discussions on the Palestinian peace process and current geopolitical issues in the Middle East.
Yvonne revealed that Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono was supposed to attend the ADF 2026 directly and was even scheduled to speak at a panel session on ASEAN cooperation at the event.
The Foreign Minister was also planned to hold bilateral meetings with a number of partners from friendly countries on that occasion.
However, Sugiono will not attend the agenda in Turkey due to “strategic directives from the President of Indonesia that require the Foreign Minister to remain in Jakarta,” Yvonne said.
Although the Foreign Minister cannot attend the agenda in Turkey directly, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs assures that Indonesia’s commitment remains undiminished in enhancing cooperation with Turkey, both in bilateral frameworks and in ASEAN cooperation frameworks, including through commitment to participation in ADF 2026, Yvonne stated.
The ADF is an annual routine activity and a diplomacy platform of the Turkish government to discuss global and regional issues through the involvement of various stakeholders, from political representatives, international organisations, academics, to business actors.
Indonesia’s presence at the Turkish diplomacy agenda is a manifestation of the Indonesian government’s support for Turkey, which is currently in the process of becoming a new ASEAN dialogue partner.
