Indonesia to Mark 80th Bhayangkara Day on July 1, 2026

The 1st of July 2026 will be marked by several significant observances, both in Indonesia and around the world. In Indonesia, the date is celebrated as Bhayangkara Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri). According to official information from the Polri Public Relations division, this year’s commemoration carries the theme ‘80 Years of Service, Polri for the Community.’ The theme reflects the force’s commitment to continuously improving service, protection, and guardianship for the public. The 80th-anniversary logo also embodies the philosophy of dedication, transformation, and the spirit of public service. Bhayangkara Day is observed every 1 July to commemorate Government Decree No. 11/SD of 1946, which established the National Police as a national institution directly responsible to the government. Internationally, 1 July is celebrated as Canada Day, marking the formation of the Dominion of Canada through the British North America Act in 1867. It is one of the country’s largest celebrations, featuring official ceremonies, concerts, fireworks, and parades. In Africa, Burundi celebrates its Independence Day on 1 July, having gained independence from Belgium in 1962.
