Indonesia to Launch Global-Scale Asset Management Company
Chief Operating Officer of Danantara and Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body, Donny Oskaria, has stated that Indonesia will officially have a global-scale asset management company in the near future. The company will be formed through the merger of several state-owned asset management firms into a single entity.
“We are consolidating these companies so that they have sufficient size, are competitive, and become a strong player in the industry. We are merging five of our asset management companies, which will be launched in September as the largest asset management company in Indonesia,” Donny told CNBC Indonesia during the Danantara SOE Progress Update on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
Donny said he is directly involved in the merger process. Once completed, the asset management company will be staffed by strong management, including within its organisation. He also confirmed that the asset management firm will have the best product development director, who will be central to driving the company’s progress.
He is optimistic that the company will be strong and solid because it will be supported by major banks, particularly state-owned banks, as distribution channels. “Later, this asset management company will engage with all of our banking sector. This will become the distribution channel for the asset management company. We are quite optimistic that our asset management company will become a very solid company going forward,” Donny explained.
According to Donny, this is not a difficult task because state-owned asset management companies have a strong history. For example, Dana Reksa is a company with very strong branding that has produced great people. However, in recent years, Dana Reksa has not functioned as intended and had 50 subsidiaries, which have now been resolved so that Dana Reksa returns to its origins and will once again become Dana Reksa Investment.
