Indonesia to Host Asia's First Quantum AI Data Centre with US$400 Million Investment
The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) is facilitating the construction of Asia's first quantum AI data centre, with an investment value of US$400 million (more than Rp6 trillion).
In an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu said the data centre would position Indonesia as a hub for advanced computing based on quantum technology and artificial intelligence in the Asian region.
"This is in line with President Prabowo's directive targeting 8 per cent economic growth towards Golden Indonesia 2045. The digital economy, particularly data centres, is a key pillar for achieving this. Indonesia has extraordinary potential in this sector, and we are ready to become a primary partner in building Asia's digital future," he said on Tuesday, 15 July 2025.
The initial phase of the project, valued at more than Rp6 trillion, was formalised through the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Worldvuer iByond Limited, a Silicon Valley-based technology company, and Tunas Prima Industrial Estate, an industrial park operator. The signing took place in Jakarta on Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
According to Todotua, the data centre will be built in the Tunas Prima green industrial park in Batam, Riau Islands. The park has already adopted sustainable infrastructure such as solar panels and independent water treatment facilities, and has previously attracted investment from global companies including Apple, the manufacturer of iPhones and AirTags.
Worldvuer iByond Limited is the developer of the Vovea iByond Operating System, which integrates quantum computing technology, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics to deliver data processing capabilities far faster and more efficient than conventional data centres.
"Indonesia will be the first base for this technology in Asia, having previously been developed in Silicon Valley and the Middle East," said Todotua.
He added that besides building the data centre, Worldvuer iByond Limited is also exploring cooperation opportunities in the energy sector, mirroring their collaboration model with Aramco in Saudi Arabia. The company is also exploring possible cooperation in telecommunications with Telkom Group and the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs.
"Through the Job Creation Law and the OSS system, we have simplified regulations. We also provide various fiscal incentives such as tax holidays, super tax deductions for research and human resource development, as well as import duty exemptions for equipment. This is our commitment to supporting quality investments like this project," Todotua affirmed.
As a next step, Worldvuer iByond Limited will submit a formal incentive proposal along with supporting documents to the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM. They are also opening opportunities for collaboration with the education and mining sectors, particularly in developing gold-based microchip supply chains.
