Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) is facilitating the investment of Asia's first quantum AI data centre worth US$400 million, equivalent to more than Rp6 trillion.

Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday that the investment would position Indonesia as a cutting-edge computing hub based on artificial intelligence and quantum technology in Asia.

"This is in line with President Prabowo's directive targeting 8 per cent economic growth towards Golden Indonesia 2045. The digital economy, particularly data centres, is a key pillar to achieving this. Indonesia has extraordinary potential in this sector, and we are ready to be a primary partner in building Asia's digital future," he said.

The investment plan, with an initial project value equivalent to more than Rp6 trillion, was formalised through the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Worldvuer iByond Limited, a Silicon Valley-based technology company, and Tunas Prima Industrial Estate, held in Jakarta on Wednesday (9 July).

He said the data centre would be built in the Tunas Prima area, a green industrial estate located in Batam, Riau Islands, which has implemented renewable energy-based infrastructure such as solar panels and independent water treatment facilities. The estate has previously attracted investment from global manufacturers including Apple iPhone and AirTags.

Worldvuer iByond Limited is the developer of the Vovea iByond Operating System, a system that integrates various types of advanced computing technology, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics to deliver speed and processing capacity far exceeding conventional data centres.

Indonesia will be the first base for this technology in Asia, after it was previously developed in Silicon Valley and the Middle East, he said.

In addition to building the data centre, Worldvuer iByond Limited is also exploring potential cooperation in the energy sector through an approach similar to their collaboration with Aramco in Saudi Arabia, as well as exploration of telecommunications technology with Telkom Group and the Ministry of Communications and Digital.

"Through the Job Creation Law and the OSS system, we have simplified regulations. We also provide various fiscal incentives such as tax holidays, super tax deductions for research and human resource development, as well as import duty exemptions for equipment. This is our commitment to supporting quality investment such as this project," he said.

As a follow-up step, Worldvuer iByond Limited will submit a formal incentive proposal and supporting documents to the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, and open the door to broader collaboration with the education and mining sectors, particularly in developing gold-based microchip supply chains.
