Jakarta (ANTARA News) -The Ministry of Trade will try to boost the country`s exports to China by having 80 Indonesian companies take part in an international exhibition, the China Asean Expo, in Naning, Guangxi, China in October 2009.

Thus, at least 80 Indonesian companies will be taking part in the exhibition, said Bachrul Chairi, Head of the National Export Development Agency (BPEN) after signing a cooperation agreement with the secretary general of the Guangzhi province Communist Party in Jakarta Monday.

He said that right now only 65 companies had confirmed participation in the exhibition, whereas actually 110 booths had been prepared for the Indonesian participants.

Bachrul said that at the sixth exhibition in Naning, Indonesia expects to secure transactions worth 16 million US dollars, up 15 percent than last year`s.

Bachrul said however, the value of the transactions is actually not the main target of the Indonesian participation in the exhibition. He said that in last year`s exhibition it was not the transactions worth 14 million US dollars that Indonesia was after, but the three Chinese companies` investment in Kalimantan.

In this exhibition, the Indonesian delegation will have one city take part as a City of Charm, namely Kutai, Kertanegara in East Kalimantan.

On the occasion, Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu said the Guangzhi province in the southern part of China has so many similarities with Indonesia.

"So it would be of no use if the products that we will being there are the same. We will really find out what products we should bring there," he said.

She said that some products which the people of Guangzhi will positively like, are fresh fruits, wooden products, farm produce, rattan, furniture, bird`s nests, spa products, and jewelry. (*)
